Since the showers are not working at my regular GYM, I had to drive 1.5 miles away to their sister GYM to have a shower.
Well you can imagine my horror when I got to the shower room and there were no boxes/Partitions/ cubicles/ private shower, just one big room with 12 showers stiking out the wall like you see in the prison in films. Fortunately for me there was just one guy coming out of the shower so I had the room to myself.
It really felt strange not having my own private box. I wasn't sure if I was to turn to face the wall or away from the wall. I believe that open showers business is just nasty and wrong, I need my cubicle ....... for once I want to think inside my box.

I always used to wonder why the ladies always got private cubicles and us fellas had to be 'communal'. In my secondary school some boys would tease other boys, if they weren't showing evidence of puberty or they weren't as well endowed. Some boys were tormented about their weight. Of course the bullies were only able to do so because we were all FORCED to share the one shower area. Those events have probably left some men with complexes about there bodies to this very day. I think we all deserve the right to privacy, ESPECIALLY when it comes to our bodies.
ReplyDeleteHi Ade Thanks for your comment .... it's certainly not like that in all gyms because my regular Gym has cubicles with frosted glass. but I didn't really think of the other points you raised which are certainly valid. Yes, as a minimun I definately expect cubicles at my GYM.
