New year blessings Part 2

Many messages tonight will be conveying that you need to prune off some old friends that drag you down as they can't follow you to your destiny. For the vast majority of people this is not a wise move as you could be left broken and lonely, unnecessarily as you get all hyped up and start to lob GOOD friends off left right and centre.

In everything prayer has to be the key.

It is true that not everyone can follow you into your destiny, and only those with a really clear focus should employ the direct pruning off method. The method which I favour is this, make your change prayerfully from within and those who are producing drag on your progress will automatically fall off as you become a slick destiny machine. If that doesn't happen then that is the time to employ the direct pruning method.

Despite my advise whatever you do let wisdom be your guide.

2011 can be a great year for you if you seek first the KINGDOM of Heaven (Matt 6:33), and be a blessing to others as you fulfil your purpose.

Have yourself a Splendiferous new year filled with answered prayers and fulfilled dreams.

New Year Blessings Part 1

The New year is a great time to embark on something new such as Gym, lose weight, giving up meat, becoming more caring, giving up smoking and the list goes on. This is an admirable thing to do as any change for the better is good, moreover any change indicate the presence of life so change is good.

However, I have a slight issue with attaching your efforts to the fact that the calendar has changed date, since the calendar does that every single day. Sure January first is a memorable date, but most resolutions grow weaker and weaker as the month of January goes on. This is why the Gym campaign for members intensify in January. You feel guilty for overindulgence make a crazy decision to enter a 12 month contract with the GYM turn up for one month and you know the rest. This is exactly what happens with all other resolution, Guilt followed by an unrealistic commitment.

Though the new year may work for some, believe me it will not work for the vast majority. Since Christ is a constant, I believe that the best way to seal your desires and realise your resolutions is to place them firmly in the Hands of GOD and NOT in the fact that it is a New Year.

My prayer is that you and yours will have a great new year, and that the very best of your 2010 becomes the very least of your 2011.

BROKEN SCALE - (Weight A Minute!)

Remember in my post dated  (Tuesday, November 16, 2010) I bought what I considered to be a good bathroom scale to keep consistent weight?  well it didn't live up to its claim cause I had to return it to Argos. The scale in question was the SALTER stainless steel body analyser scale (Argos 831/3892). First two weeks of having it all was good but then it just packed up, and by the way this was the second of its type I bought in the past five years. so I returned it and replaced it with a solid mechanical scale. ie just springs. No electronics or batteries to contend with. so my new scale is the EKS large doctors scale (Argos 830/3572).

So far all appears to be OK, will let you know how I get on. The disadvantage of this scale however is, I will not be able to do body, fat, muscle or water content, but I will continue on with just trying to shift the weight as I go. Eat less do more.

I will do a weigh in tomorrow and update you on my progress.

DO MORE EAT LESS - THE SECRET TO LOOSING WEIGHT

When I started on this quest to loose 50lb in 1 year I was under no illusions that it would be easy, furthermore when you take up these challenges all manner of obstacles present themselves.
We are now on Day 44 (Week 7) I am currently 201.2 lbs (as at Monday 13/12/10) this means that I am still ahead of my target. Shifting the weight is now becoming more and more difficult. In addition as of last Friday my working routine and as a result GYM attendance has changed. I will have to come up with some clever method of loosing weight in a controlled manner and yes I will keep you posted.
As it happen I haven’t worked out a grand plan as yet but it will include lots of walking, Exercise bike, Wii Fit and other floor exercises, hey I may even purchase an exercise ball. I have reduced both my calorie intake and cut down on fats and sugars. In future blogs it is my intention to share this data (food log) including the graph of my weight loss. You lucky people I may even show you some profile pictures of my belly, which I intend to craft into a tight six Pac (6PAC)
In closing the formula is as it always was do more and eat less.
As always I value your feedback, and indeed suggestions of things you have done or heard that a good methods of loosing weight.

Till next time see you

PROGRESS UPDATE!!

Ok I am now currently on day 36 (week 6) of losing round about 50lb (see earlier blogs) in weight to fall within the band of my ideal weight. I estimate my rate of weight loss need to be about 1lb per week, and I am ahead of that yipeee!!!. From my weight chart (which I will share with you in a future blog) I should be 204.2lb however, I am currently 202.4lb as at this morning.
Though I am somewhat ahead of the game as I start to build muscles it will become a tight balancing act to lose fat and gain muscles at the same time. As I am not following anyone's fitness routine, I will be learning as I go along. If it get too tough then I will follow a prescribed fitness and diet routine. But, for now the plan is simply doing more + GYM and eating less + a slight change in diet. I also try to drink lots of water.
Not sure how I am going to fare over the Christmas break but I am going to give it a fair old go.
By the way it is getting somewhat difficult though I expected it to get easier by now, but my plan is to stick with it. I really do value your feedback and words of encouragement.

SO HERE IS THE DILEMMA.

When I joined the GYM I was given a rucksack, A water bottle, A flannel and a padlock as part of the new members pack.
All was fine for a few months, Then one day after getting changed I left the Padlock in the locker with the key and walked out the changing room. When I got home I realised my Blunder.
So, Next day I went in the GYM I asked at the reception, " Has anyone handed in a padlock please ?", The answer came back "No, Sir but if you need one it will cost you £2.50."
This was almost a year ago. Anyway yesterday I went into the empty changing room after a good workout, and guess what was lying in the locker complete with Key? You got it, a Padlock. I thought to myself Yes Karma! Now this Padlock was GYM standard issue just like the one I was given but it was certainly not mine!
What do you think I did, or what would you do?

JUST THIS ONCE I WANT TO, " THINK INSIDE THE BOX! "

Since the showers are not working at my regular GYM, I had to drive 1.5 miles away to their sister GYM to have a shower.
Well you can imagine my horror when I got to the shower room and there were no boxes/Partitions/ cubicles/ private shower, just one big room with 12 showers stiking out the wall like you see in the prison in films. Fortunately for me there was just one guy coming out of the shower so I had the room to myself.
It really felt strange not having my own private box. I wasn't sure if I was to turn to face the wall or away from the wall. I believe that open showers business  is just nasty and wrong, I need my cubicle ....... for once I want to think inside my box.
What do you think?
Leave me your comment.

CURSE OF THE BROKEN BOILER!

OK Monday I went to the GYM turned up 7am all bright eyed and bushy tailed ready for my morning workout. To be greeted at reception with the news that the boiler is broken and therefore the showers are inoperable. I therefore had two choices well three actually.
1. Go in do my work out then go to work for the rest of the day in a sweaty state and  possibly skunk out the office. or
2. Skip the workout for that morning.
You got it I chose option 2.
and then later that evening I did my workout after work then drove home and showered there. So while the shower is broken I opted to exercise in the evenings.
Anyway, this morning I went into the GYM, oh and here is option 3. The receptionist said that I was welcomed to use their sister GYM 1.5 miles away, so I did my workout in GYM 1 and showered in GYM 2. What a palaver. I don't plan to give up and I will SHIFT THIS LARD.

STILL HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

My target is still to lose 50lbs by this time next year. The colder months are coming in, and people it is getting Harder, seriously harder to stay motivated; but I've got to get fit and get my weight under control so there is no excuse.

Usually on the weekend Me and Mrs M go for a 5KM walk, I look so forward to this. Last Saturday 20th Nov. we did 6Km it took us 60 minutes and we shed 380 Calories ( That's about one Krispe Kreme doughnut). Not bad eh! There were times gone by when I could down a couple a those suckers with no effort at all.
My last weigh in was on Monday morning 203.2lb still heading in the right direction.
My aim is to be in the Gym tomorrow bright and early as my last visit was Monday evening.

NOW IN MY THIRD WEEK!!

Still Fighting Fit.
Ok  so far we are now in week three, and things are looking good; truth must be told I am feeling a bit better inside. I am also fully determined to keep going till I achieve my Goal i.e. to loose 50lb in weight by this time next year ( Starting 3 weeks ago obviously).
Over the next few weeks I will share with you my exact plans on how I intend to achieve this goal. Since we last spoke, I have now bought a good bathroom scale so I can keep a more accurate/consistent  record of my weight changes, I will also be publishing my stats less frequently, as I have recently learned that it is not a great idea to weigh every day, but I'm learning.
As it happen my last weigh in Monday morning on my new scale from which all my future weigh ins will be recorded was 203.8 lbs (92.4 kg).
for now see you later and well talk soon.
Feel free to leave a comment.

LOOKING FWD TO BREAKING THE 90Kg BARRIER !!!

Well Im now almost at the end of a second week of daily workout, it still does not get easier but  as I see and feel the results i am somewhat encouraged.
Today is my second day of weights and my muscles ache people.... ache. but I am reminded that no pain no gain. Tomorrow I will be back on the cross trainer and rowing machine
I've had some good news today stepping on the scales BLAM! 91.7 Kg at this rate I believe I may exceed my target. I will do a review on the weekend to ascertain where I am in relation to my target; And measures I can take to speed up the process. Maybe improving my Diet, early to bed, spins class you get the drift. But so far things are looking good.
SIX PAC HERE I COME!

INTRODUCING WEIGHTS

Whoops ..... I've slipped up on my half of the bargain ( i.e. keeping up on the blog).

Well I went to the GYM 5 days on the trot last week. Then on Saturday I went for a walk with Mrs M. 1 hour 7km walk and burnt up 400 calories ( According to my iphone).
On Monday back to the GYM for a workout, 45minutes shared between Rowing machine and the cross trainer. Went in to weigh myself and the scale is still broken, but last night I weighed 93kg on the Wii fit scale.
Today I started introducing weights / weightlifting into my routine, and the workout was rather good. Still in the valley of decision regarding spins class though.
Diet is a very important part of getting in shape, and truth must be told, this is the hardest part of the Keep fit regime. But am trying my hardest, and yes I still want that 6pac.
See YA

SHOULD I JOIN THE SPIN CLASS? I WONDER.

OK Day 5 at the GYM and not just any old day 5 but 5 consecutive days. If it wouldn't be construed as vain id pat myself on the back ( ...... ah well go on then pat on the back it is). Well the aim was to get there for 6:30 am and start my workout still didn't manage it but had to settle for 6:45am maybe Monday eh?
So what did I do today, I headed straight for the treadmill where I shed 100 Calories, wasting no time I then moved onto the Xtrainer where I expended a further 200 Calories.... Though I'm still not loving the experience it feels FANTASTIC after the shower, knowing that I had a good keep fit session.
While I was on the cross trainer I noticed that there was a spin class going on .... they were going for it. I thought to myself  'Should I add spin class to my exercise routine?' It look like hard work, not sure if I'm ready. But what do you think should I Join the spin classes?
Please leave your comment.

EXERCISE, EXERCISE, DIET ...... CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MY SIX (EIGHT) PACK

Result !!!!!

I Got to the GYM 6:45am this morning and headed straight for the treadmill and had a 20min brisk walk with a 5% Gradient you should have seen me, I was sweating like a P-I-G.
I then hit the cross trainer for 25 min and that constituted my morning workout exercise.  I really felt refreshed and relaxed after having a shower.
Ok now for the moment of truth I weighed in at ........... 92.7 Kg (14stones 8.5 Pounds). If you want to verify that you can use one of the many online conversion calculators.
I just can't wait to see my six pack, I know its hiding somewhere in my stomach! .
All being well I will be there tomorrow again.. 6:30pm Sharp.

THE FAT GENE!

THE FAT GENE.
Got to confess that it was not very hard going to exercise today. Still aiming for 6:30am but only managed 7:00am. Had a good 35 minute workout though, think I lost 300 calories again and a bucket of sweat. The entire time was split between the Cross trainer and the Rowing machine.
My prime target for this and next week is to get some kind of routine going.
I weighed on the same scale  but now I am, wait for it .......... 93Kg. I thing that is right. I may have to invest in a scale. Any donation greatly appreciated, it's for a good cause. ( Isn't it?)
Scientists reckon that there is a thing call the fat gene well I'm not sure, but if there is he has a mighty fight on his hand and all I can say is . BRING IT ON !
My first aim tomorrow is as it was yesterday to get to the GYM 6:30 am, though ive done it before it would be a real moral boost.
See you tomorrow

BURNING CALORIES

Got up this morning did my  usual morning preparations and gave myself the pep talk .....gotta go to the GYM ..... gotta get healthy .....  Gotta lose weight ... Gotta shift some blubber.
My plan was to be in the GYM at 6:30 am but eventually got there at 7:15 am, I did manage to get 35 minutes exercise and in the process blew 300 calories, all on the cross trainer ( get in there my son!).
Now here is the crunch I went on the scale and weighed  myself ..... 89 kg which begs the question was the scale busted yesterday or today. But I think the time of the day also had something to do with it.

Will try again tomorrow .

KICK START (MOT)

Well today I purposed in my mind that I will be starting back to work out at the GYM and pursue a healthier lifestyle. Problem is I shouldn't have told my Body, Cause the resistance was intense.
I thought of every reason to not go to work out but, then I thought that I need to lose the weight, I will feel lighter, more energised, hey if I do this thing right I may even get a six / eight pack.
THE WEIGH IN
I weighed in at 94.9 Kg
Body Fat  25.7
BMI  32.1
Skeletal Muscle 35.2 %
I will have to look into some of these numbers and what they mean  but I know for a fact that I need to shed some of these pounds.
The Guy who was assessing/measuring me asked me if I had a goal, I said 'yes, I would like to lose 20 Kg in a year', he said we can do that in less we will work you hard.
My next appointment is 6 weeks from now, so that's mid December.....
Anyway off to bed now but God willing I will be up early and in the GYM for 6:30 am for a one hour work out before work.

BODY BEAUTIFUL

Ok so here is the deal, My Name is Royland (Roy) I am 5'8" the units should give you my rough age. The last time I weighed which was 23 October I was (14.8 Stones) 94 Kg. This my friends means that I am currently Obese ( You really wouldn't think so to look at me, But the numbers never lie )

Now by my reckoning I need to lose around 50 lb in weight, But the good news is,  I have a plan.

I have booked into the Gym for an MOT on 1 Nov. 2010 an appointment which I will not miss .... Honest.

My strategy in brief is as follow:-

1) Do more
2) Eat less of the rubbish stuff / and more of the good stuff.
3) Keep a diary ( and update my blog)

I will set a target of 1 year and see how it goes.

So here goes.
